STD Education Is Going To Help Fix The Economy?

I’m all for educating our young people about the dangers of sexually transmitted diseases but to be quite frank with you I’m not sure how it would boost our economy. For weeks now we’ve been told that this economic stimulus package is the solution to our country’s financial woes. Of course there are millions of people who will blindly follow without asking exactly where $100 million in new sod on the National Mall or $335 million in STD awareness at the taxpayer’s expense is going to take us.

Congress thinks an economic mess caused by excessive borrowing and spending can be fixed by borrowing and spending even more aggressively. A simple look at statistics shows that teaching young people to practice safe sex isn’t working. The CDC estimates that that approximately 19 million new STD infections occur each year— almost half of them among young people 15 to 24 years of age. Chlamydia infections are currently at an all-time high since the CDC began keeping stats. We’re not teaching kids to have safe sex. We’re just teaching them to have sex!

Here’s the thing about grass. If you let the rain fall on it and keep people off of it then it will grow back. There’s no need to spend $100 million because rain is free. Here’s the thing about sexually transmitted diseases. Don’t have sex and they won’t spread! That's right, I said it. Don’t have sex! The Bible teaches that sexual intimacy was intended to be between a man and a woman within the bond of a marriage relationship and to do otherwise results in grave consequences. Of course society tells us that the bible is an outdated document that doesn’t apply in today’s modern world and all that believe and live by its teachings and principles are narrow minded, judgmental and weak. Then those same people want to bill the tax payers to cover the price of the consequences for refusing to remain abstinent.

STD’s, and the prevention of, are not an economic issue and this is a perfect example of why this bill was a bad idea. It is laced with hidden personal agendas for Joe Taxpayer to cover at the expense of $10,000 of new federal debt for a typical family of four. Of course the response is going to be that this money is going to go into people’s pockets to teach our kids to have sex and that is what economic stimulus is all about. What they won’t tell you though is that the number of unwed mothers is at an all-time high resulting in more children dependant government assistance. Guess who winds up paying for that?

Thirteen percent of American companies announced salary freezes in 2008, and 19 percent expect to do so during 2009.

"Families are tightening their belts and so should Washington," President Obama told the nation. Still, he supports an $825 billion package that will:

* Create 32 new federal programs at a cost of $136 billion;

*Bail out states with over $200 billion so they don't have to control salaries or lay off government workers, despite budget-busting spending.

Meanwhile representatives and senators received an annual salary increase of $4,700 on January 1, bringing them to $174,000 while the average U.S. worker in the private sector is going to earn $55,470.

Way to go Republicans

Finally! It seems the American voice is being heard - at least by Republican Representatives and 11 Democrat Representatives. I am so proud of the Republicans - they stood against the overwhelming tide of biased information and resisted the bailout bill yesterday. That in itself is awesome. But what was more impressive, there were 11 Democrats with the fortitude and resolve to buck the system, stand for America and vote NO on mortgaging/taxing/enslaving our grandchildren.

The national debt already stands at over 30K per person in America - we don't need this "stimulus" package of pork! Only .12cents on every dollar is actually going to stimulate the economy - the rest is a mess of stuff! Condoms and other contraceptives - "to avoid further burdening the economy in the future" - - yeah, that's smart, "condone" a lack of self discipline and responsibility. Geesh, when will the madness stop! Or what about several thousands being earmarked for climate change studies on global warming? Isn't this the coldest global year on record - and since 1998 there has been a cooling trend? Someone needs their head checked.

Nevertheless, I will personally thank the 11 democrats and challenge you to do the same! It may have passed, but at least as Republicans we can say we had "nothing" to do with it!

I need not say much - but seriously, that which Obama is slamming us into is a mess. Please read this proposal for a solution, put together by RUSH. Whether you like RUSH or not, push for the market to take over, the bail outs and social agenda is killing us: less taxes, cut capital gain, cut business taxes and let the American people make it happen!

Silence after Tuesday

I listened to the radio during the inauguration. Probably one of the most telling fore casting was B. Hussein Obama's flundering on the oath. I realize that is not a word, but it seems to fit. He choked. Sure, nothing is perfect and everyone goofs, but the oath is peat and repeat. How hard can it be? And, if you watch the video...he .... well, wasn't there!

He didn't just flounder, blunder, or stumble - he did so at one of the most crucial points. Will he do this thing? Is he certain? Where did his mind wander? He stands with two other Presidents that got re-do's.

Next day....he gets a do-over. Just a precaution per the powers that be.

BUT THEY can't find and don't use a Bible! Regardless of Jefferson, who used a book of law, this is a time honored tradition and even cultural binding practice as to who we are as a nation. One does question what we would have seen had Romney been elected....

I am sure, absolutely sure, that there was a Bible in the White House. There is no way there was not. They just did not take the time to obtain one. They waited one day for a re-do, what's a few more minutes? What would be the reasoning?

What will the first 100 days be like?

Point/Counterpoint – Israel’s Invasion, Justified Or Not?

With Israeli troops withdrawing from Gaza on Sunday an end appears to have come to a three week war between Israel and Hamas. It is unlikely that this is the last we are going to see of this conflict because even though both sides agreed to a cease fire no long-term goals were reach by either side in the negotiations.

"We didn't set out to conquer Gaza. We didn't set out to control Gaza. We don't want to remain in Gaza, and we intend on leaving Gaza as fast as possible," - Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert

Israel was making the point that they would no longer stand by idle as smuggled rockets were launched from Gaza at Israeli targets. However, Captain America (playing Devil’s Advocate) is taking a different stance on this military campaign.

Captain America: It is incredulous that in a perilous world any country would like to pick a fight or add fuel to a fire. But isn't that what Israel is doing? From what I can tell, Israel was "picked on" and then slammed into Gaza with a vengeance. Aren't they supposed to be a peaceful people? Why are they taking such an aggressive stance against the Hamas in Gaza? If I were the President, I would tell them to back off or we will have to limit our support. America is already seen as the country that picks fights, all we need now is an ally to be doing the same. Israel is so much bigger than this other country too - why not just work things out diplomatically? The Bush platform for the last eight years has escalated this mentality of war. President Barack Hussein Obama is coming on the scene and he will be able to bring change to foreign policy and peace to that area.

Dolphinfan: First of all it is asinine to take the position that Israel went looking to, "pick a fight" here. The Israeli offensive is the direct result of continued rocket attacks against them. The people who take this position are most likely many of the same ones who blame our government for the terrorist attacks on 9/11 and then in the same breath criticize the Bush administration for taking the War on Terror off American soil by committing our troops abroad.

Israel was much more than just "picked on" and this isn't a skirmish that just popped up out of nowhere. They've been hated by surrounding countries since they left Egypt as God's Chosen People. A person must understand Israel's position politically, religiously and geographically before taking a stance against them in this conflict.

Politically – They are America's best ally in the Middle East. The United States was the first country to recognize the State of Israel. They have supported the U.S. in military campaigns against Iraq and Libya among others. Israel maintains diplomatic relations with 161 countries and has 94 diplomatic missions around the world. However, only 3 members of the Arab League have chosen to establish to establish relationships with Israel.

Religiously – The name Israel means, "he struggles with God". It was given to Abraham's grandson, Jacob, while in route to his home country to face the music of his past misdeeds (Genesis 32:27-28). Jacob's sons became the 12 tribes of Israel who eventually grew into a nation of people while captive in Egypt for 500 years. Moses, King Saul, King David, King Solomon and Jesus of Nazareth are just a among the descendents as well as the world's current Jewish population.

The nation of Israel was established as a homeland for the Jewish people. They do not share the same beliefs nor worship the same God as their Muslim neighbors which makes them more of an enemy to the Muslim states such as Hamas and other radical Islamic extremist.

Geographically – Israel is surrounded by Muslim nations most of whom hate them simply for just being there and would like nothing more than to see them wiped clean off the face of the earth. Again, this is nothing to the Israelis who had the Philistines attempting the same thing thousands of years ago.

Israel is doing the same thing that the U.S. did in 2001 by fighting this war on the enemy's home turf instead of their own. They should be supported by the U.S. as a resolution is sought for this conflict but they shouldn't be put under embargos or have any other such punishment levied against them. Instead it is Hamas that should be disallowed to rearm after this conflict ends...

Captain America: Everything promoted by the news and written media would support the fact that Israel is escalating this war. If Israel is really just taking the fight off their soil, then why aren't we seeing more stories in the media that would support this? Personally, a couple right wing news outlets are not enough to credibly state that Israel is just protecting their people. Seems to me that there is a something going on with Bush and Chaney about this fight. Good thing they are out the door! As for Israel’s "history," I don't think that just because we supported them as a nation or that they are "God's Chosen People" should have any bearing on what we do today. Besides, isn't America just the same - we say we were founded on Christian principles? Not only that, but what makes the Jewish God better than the Muslim....or the Buddhist...God? You are just one of those far right people....

Dolphinfan: The question should be where were the news stories when Israel was being attacked with rockets? They were there but not to the extent that we are seeing now that Israel is on the offensive. It amazes me how much we forget. We've forgotten that our country was attacked in 9/11 and criticize the war effort that has prevented any more terror strikes on American soil. Now the same is happening with Israel. They were attacked first and instead of supporting them in their attempt to defend themselves the world is quick to criticize for moving the fight off their own soil. This has nothing to do with the Bush administration but everything to do with a nation's right to protect itself.

As far as the God comparison goes, no they are not the same God. The Bible has been validated through history, science and archeology. You can't say the same about the Koran and the God of the Bible certainly isn't Muhammad or Buddha. Call me what you want but what I most certainly am not is a person who ignores the facts to support an agenda.

Captain America: Fortunately, a cease fire has been recognized. With Obama in power, we will at least not have to worry about escalated war, he may even lessen the ties with Israel and countries that associate with them. I haven't forgotten 9/11, but it isn't something that I want to be reminded of all the time and then doesn't justify our attacks anymore than capital punishment for murderers. Even your God says that people should turn the other cheek and love your enemies. I think you are just trying to justify Israel’s actions.

Dolphinfan: Please note that Obama isn't in power yet and this cease fire was moderated by the Bush Administration.. America can't afford to cut ties with Israel or Jordan (country that associates with them) and I believe that Obama is smart enough to recognize that. You comment about not wanted to be reminded about 9/11 just validates my previous comments. It is much easier to just bury your head in the sand and ignore the threats to our country.

By the way turning the other cheek and granting forgiveness doesn't remove the need for justice.

What is VIRGINITY worth....

Wow. Who wouldn't want a cool $3-million? According to FoxNews 1/13/08 article, one girl is selling something for it...

Yet, I am saddened. Really, I am flabbergasted, dumb-founded. Prostitutes are one thing...they have been around for quite some time. But this young girl, Natalie, is 22yrs old and auctioning her virginity to the highest bidder. She is scarcely out of her Dad's care...or Mom's.

She is quoted as saying "It's shocking that men will pay so much for someone's virginity, which isn't even prized so highly anymore." Again, I just don't know what to say.... that sentence really scares me....

I can't imagine what my thoughts would have been on my wedding night had my wife not been a virgin. Though I would have obviously loved her and chose to continue the relationship, I can only imagine thinking "why didn't she wait for me?" This coming from a guy who also waited...

Now, throw money....lots of money...at this life question: what is virginity worth? Not only that, but she uses Capitalism to skirt the morality issue, stating she should be able to "capitalize on her virginity." Heavy marketing, including Howard Stern, has excelled her venture to very high income levels.

She plans to test and prove that she is a virgin. I wonder if she has considered the random buyer's tests: HIV and STDs, abusive nature, background, etc.? Who will the random deep pocket be?

Wow...we have left so much...who are we...will the real America speak up?

Sweetheart...it was worth the wait...no pricetag may label the value of the wait and the reward that comes with it.

THE NEW MECCA: WASHINGTON, DC

USA Today, for Friday-Sat, 11/28-30, 2008 ran an article about traveler heading to DC on the bottom of their backward six …. Meaning it was their second ‘best’ article. (This blog was written then and I waited to post it).

The National Park Service is expecting over a million attendees. It is a historic and monumental event for America. I am totally excited for these individuals and could only imagine the amazing feeling that they will experience. As history is written, they may say that “they were there.” How cool would that be?!?

America is entering a new era; “the sky is the limit” is what one interviewed individual mentioned. Obama, who is African American, made it to the highest office in the land. Another individual stated that this event is like Martin Luther King’s speech – “a once in a lifetime event.”

Wait a minute…who am I fooling! I can’t even continue writing in this fashion. Playing the devil’s advocate on this one is not easy for me. I have erased several sentences and started over again.

I look at this article and think “You’re kiddin’ me. I am totally amazed at the cult following." I was speaking with a close friend of mine while first reading the article and stated, “It is not like he got there on merit, knowledge, integrity and experience. Had a Chinese American, an Indian, a Spanish American or even a plain white man or woman had been in the running with his lack of qualities….they’d have been laughed at and never would have made it from initial campaign push.”

America did see the glass ceiling shatter in many ways this year. For that, I am glad - 'Cause now, no one can really say that they are being held back because of race, color, beliefs, gender, etc. But, as the following paragraph illustrates, if someone had just done it, the ceiling wasn’t really there in the recent past either 9deep thought). Think of the guy who first broke the four minute mile….that same year over a dozen other runners broke the four minute mile with him.

Let’s pretend a moment: Condoleezza Rice. Need I say more? I mean really, there is an African American with experience, character, integrity and influence. She would command respect. I would be much more excited about what history would write with her in office. Or, Collin Powell….now you have to take out the fact that he endorsed Obama, but he would still be historic. Though he may be a closet liberal, I would be much more impressed to teach my kids about his accomplishments. And even JC Watts…where did he get shoved off to? And why?

“You are just prejudiced.” NO! Dab-gummit! Why is it that no one can see these things? Obama got into office because the media failed to do their job, further, they forced him on America. Further, Republicans voted against Clinton in Texas – this was the clincher on Clinton’s downfall. Finally, ignorant media-minded individuals voted for “change” and charisma. Finally, African Americans (PC language kills me) voted en masse because Obama is black….or nearly, mostly, partly, half black anyway. Never mind his ties to the Chicago thug underworld; nor the fact that even his family is in the slum; that his charitable giving is minimal, yet preaches redistribution of wealth; that he hasn’t been in the Senate for the last few years, accomplished nothing of major importance in the Senate and votes ‘present’ more than not (just like recently….some change there); his friends/pastor/acquaintances are treacherous and one is even proud of his attacks on America.

So. Enjoy the pilgrimage to DC for the crowning of Obama, the heralded Messiah. I just hope that we wake up from our wide-eyed fascination and realize what we have put into office in the name of "historical." Hopefully, America’s foundations can withstand the next four years. We have had some tough one’s in the past (Republican and Democrat)….we made it, but collectively, we were different then….anymore, I have no idea who we really are....

GLOBAL WARMING FARCE - SICK OF GREEN

(Do click the links - there is much to be understood)
Since 1998 we have been in a cooling trend and the last 100 years have varied by .9' C ....hardly something to be concerned about. Our planet is sustainable and built to last to the end - nothing we do or don't do is going to effect it all that much.

Besides America is the most active about this ... yet we are seen is as the big ugly. Third worlds and even more modern countries, are the scourge that ought to be greened up a bit. That said...how about stewardship and correct usage of the resources we have. Not only that, but would all the enviro-wackos please quit shoving green down my throat? Even if there is a 'warming' of .9'C since 1880, is it worth the hype and losing your control on 'luxuries' you want? Did you know that those that suffer from asthma will have to settle for a lesser quality inhaler due to 'CFCs' and the 1987 treaty to protect the ozone. What about the Green Bible... Seriously, this is going too far!

...unfortunately, I feel that this will continue under King Hussein. Not only that, but the UN and China are pushing for industrialized countries to clean up the third world countries!

Really! I am ok with reusable bags....sort of, even, the Green Bible (ugh) ...I guess...if for nothing else than it proves capitalism is awesome. But forcing me to use light bulbs that are actually a mercury hazard if broken? Telling me what to drive or not (Toyota Prius is not all that - read the last paragraph especially, if nothing else)? That is not capitalism! Seriously, this is going too far. Further, where does it stop? Will I be told how many times to flush in a day?

Pass the trees around (cyberly speaking), plant a real tree, recycle a can, refill a water bottle, spend hard earned money on a green bag... whatever, but don't force the wacko stuff on everyone. And, don't reply with tons of BS - it's just more carbon (pun intended)....

I just want everyone to know that there is reality out there too. Now, I'm going to walk my dog...let her 'pee' on a tree. Oh, 'chill'- it's fertilizer....good grief...

And, to think green is my favorite color...hmmm....

UPDATE: We learned of a petetion against the new inhalers - please go and petition against them: http://www.ipetitions.com/petition/saveCFCinhalers/ or petition against new inhalers.
