Einstein once said, 'The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.' It is the poor who habitually electDemocrats .... yet they are still POOR. "You cannot help the poor by destroying the rich. You cannot strengthen the weak by weakening the strong. You cannot bring about prosperity by discouraging thrift. You cannot lift the wage earner up by pulling the wage payer down. You cannot further the brotherhood of man by inciting class hatred. You cannot build character and courage by taking away people's initiative and independence. You cannot help people permanently by doing for them, what they could and should do for themselves." COMMON SENSE FROM COBURN
We have massive beaurocratic duplication - listen to it. For instance, inside FEMA, a department of HS, there are 17 different agencies at work for disaster relief. CRAZY!
At 10:30min Senator John Kerry jumps in with flattery and then says we have to have more "revenue" income....TAXES people. Really, his comment was a waste of oxygen and Coburn comes back in for reclaiming his time.
Here is somewhat his closure: "There has been a failure of leadership...and when we (Repubs) didn't do it either." And further:
"There are absolutely no cuts in what either Senator Reid or Speaker Boehner proposed in discretionary spending. The spending will rise $832 billion over the next 10 years in the discretionary accounts. Only in Washington is that a cut. Quite frankly, I am willing to work with my colleagues. I have been out there. I said we have to move and eliminate some of these loopholes; we have to reform the Tax Code. I am willing to take heat from my side on that"
He calls for a sacrifice of the American people. Immediate hurt and cuts. On the down-side less, but a stronger economy either way.
What is unfortunate is Dr. Tom Coburn will not be running in 2016 because he promised he wouldn't be. He is a true statesman (as he just mentioned most in Congress are not) and he gets laughed at. John Kerry further jumps in, clearly wanting his partisan desires. Coburn says that these partisan things are not working.
What was not called for is a Budget Amendment. I believe this is the only tidbit that was not mentioned. Now, I realize, at this moment, we probably can't get a BBA, but we need to be shooting for it.
COBURN: EPIC GOVT FAIL
Medicare. "Medicare Part A trust fund. Worst-case scenario this year to 2016. That is the fund that solves and pays for hospitalizations for our seniors...The average Medicare recipient paid $130,000 into Medicare. The average Medicare recipient takes $350,000 out. How long do we think that can continue? How long can we continue to tell seniors that we can continue a program based on its utilization rates, based on its reimbursement rates, based on the tax rates, that has a $220,000 difference between what goes out in benefits versus what comes in? It is broke"
Medicaid. "Medicaid is broke. The reason it is broke is because the States are broke trying to take care of it. We mandate what they must do, and yet the States are choking on Medicaid, and we are choking on matching the amount of dollars. Under the Affordable Care Act, it is now estimated 25 million more people will go into Medicaid. So it is broke"
U.S. Census Bureau. "The Census was broke before it started. It cost twice what it did 10 years ago, $8 billion more than what was estimated"
Fannie and Freddie. "We know they are broke. They are $190 billion--that you have now committed for, to pay to get them out of hock--Congress created that $190 billion. That is where we are today. It is going to be $300 or $400 billion that we have to pay--we will be required to pay, citizens of this country"
Social Security. "People say it is not broke. We have $2.5 trillion worth of IOUs. Well, the fact is, that money is gone. Congress stole it, spent it on other things. Now we lack the ability to go into international financial markets to borrow that money to put that trust fund whole"
U.S. Post Office. "The U.S. Post Office is bleeding every day. Yet we have not fixed it. We are going to do a gimmick to buy some time. But the fact is, we have set it up under a system when they negotiate labor contracts under the arbitration system. They cannot consider the financial health of the Post Office. That would be like paying somebody to mow your grass and saying, they will set the price on it and you cannot negotiate what the price is. Yet they are going to lose $8 to $10 billion this year and more every year going forward, and we have not fixed it, not done anything"
Cash for Clunkers. "When you look at the dollars--and the home buyer program, the new home buyer program--they actually had a negative effect on the economy. That is what the studies show now. So we blew through all of that money.
Federal Highway Trust Fund. "The highway trust fund--what is used to build highways and roads and bridges in our country--is broke. We are looking for $13 billion to try to make it whole, and all we did was transfer the last 3 years to that. Rather than reform it, we did not do anything about it"
Federal Health Care Law. "The new government-run health care program. Here is what we know. The new studies show that over half of the employers in this country will drop their insurance for the people who presently have insurance at work. Hundreds of billions of dollars of additional taxpayer money is going to be required to subsidize the exchanges those people are going to go into, because the penalty for dropping somebody's insurance is economically too low to keep employers from doing that"
COBURN TAKES THE HEAT
Speech highlights...
"You have heard the debate in the House, in the Senate, of a spending cut. And, of course, that goes to what the heart of the problem is in our country; words get twisted around to the advantage of the politicians but to the disadvantage of the American citizens. We are in trouble financially. Most people will agree with that. We have programs that are in difficult straits"
I am willing to take heat from my side on that"
"We need to freeze the size of this government. We cannot afford the government we have. The debate is about what will happen in the future. What will be the revenue increases and the spending increases? Nobody is talking about decreasing the size of the Federal Government. We can't afford this government. We can't afford to continue to spend the money we are spending"

Take Your Urinary Tract Elsewhere!

Depends on whether you read well or follow instructions as to whether you follow it. Dr. Jack Cassell said he would not refuse if someone actually did come in, so to me, it is an example of free speech; not an ethics issue.
It is a statement of frustration.
Ultimately, it is a foreshadowing of things to come. Sad thing is, he may receive discipline from this from PC minded individuals - not from legal grounds. But under Obamacare, the principle behind this will be all to common place.
I do find one thing ironic the Huffington Post references Rep. Alan Grayson, D-FL who says that "African-Americans" (should read "Americans"...another topic though) will be turned away. How is this so if "African-Americans" are so illiterate that they need the Government to assist them [in these ways] because the education system failed them? Will they not ignore the sign due to this handicap? Will not the roughly 50% (five out of 10) of Americans (Floridians - not just black) with low levels of literacy have the potential of problems reading this sign? I find this to be a racist comment - why is this not focused on by the media?
Seems to me that Mr. Grayson could be speaking of a mere four/five out of 10 people...of which, the other few may read and still enter, understanding this sign to actually be sarcasm, in the mode of tongue and cheek...and a touch of frustrated reality!
Oh yeah....and let's not forget that Mr. Grayson is not a friend to America. See is own self promoted voting record and front web boast "$100 mill in Federal money" - "98% increase of funds" during his first year in office! This guy is spending America away!

Remind Me...Who's using Nazi Tactics?
It is not about racism Calvin. But this HC plan is a train wreck on our society - it is simply a caution-less agenda to bring America to its knees. The fact is, a minority person is financing the liberal machine making it happen - Soros. And soldiers die every day so he and other like him have the freedom to do so.
"Today with help from their liberal House allies, President Obama and Nancy Pelosi finally got what they have been creating behind closed doors these past months -- a government-run health care experiment that will increase families' health care costs, increase the deficit, increase taxes on small businesses and the middle class, and cut Medicare," the statement said.
So Nazi tactics - or at the very least, stealth/iron fist tactics were used to strong arm the decision and take the American opinion out of the system. It will be Nazi tactics that force me and every other hard working American to give up the greatest health care on the planet for a government run mess! Seriously: WIC, Post-office (I know- don't go there), DHS, S.S.N, Medicare, and the like - none of them are successful! What makes anyone believe HC will succeed through the government is beyond me! We truly have let the Television suck our mental capabilities down the tubes...no pun intended!
Aside from my faith and its immovability, this revelation ruined my day. And yes, a Christian can use the word "lousy." Jesus used a whip and was spittin' mad for what the traders did to the Temple. Godly anger and frustration is warranted. Control and channelling that anger is what differentiates Christians from Wackos of any name.
The word Democrat has essentially morphed into a "four-letter" word these days. I hate it too, as I know that there are many Democrats that are not followers of Pelosi, Reed and Obama. In fact, the 39 dems that voted against it ... need a ticker-tape parade! Obama and cronies, these are the extreme wacko left! My father-n-law and many at my church are democrats - but they cannot believe how quickly their party is destroying this once great nation.
Tomorrow is a new day. God says His mercies are new every morning. I believe this and I believe it can be true for America. People, I realize many of you agree with me, but we must get this out past our little circles. Save the numbers of Congressmen in your phone and bug them 24/7. Lobby for people like http://jameslankford.com. Start your own Opinion Blog at http://www.blogger.com. Go to Tea Parties. Organize Tea Parties. Call the news channels in your area and tell them you want real news (I do this all the time - the more we do maybe they will get the hint).
2010 is the end of the Bush Tax cuts - rest assured, short a miracle, they will not be reinstated. You think you make little now, just wait: it's going to be even LESS and it will astronomically decrease IF this 1.2TRILLION DOLLAR Health care plan goes into effect! We MUST get as many Senators behind the blockage of this bill! OBAMA has sent out an email asking for $5 donations to press the insurance companies and Senators to pass this bill. They are hell-bent (!) on getting this done. Sad thing - this is not the worst of it....The Climate Treaty is going to be worse!
I for one will call and barrage "Mr. Joe Cao" until he is hearing the phone ring in his sleep! May Jindal and the remaining republicans of LA help user him out of his seat! His Washington Office number: 202-225-6636.
I am sending this out in the hopes that many of you will forward it to all you know as well!

CAPITAL WELCOME CENTER OMITS GOD
Recently, we toured the DC. The religious history of this nation and the faith of our fathers is amazing. Thus, it is disturbing when the new welcome center at the capital has so blatantly avoided or secluded any indications of faith. It is as if to say "forget faith, that was then." Rather the DC center highlights "amazing actions" performed or notable moments in the nations history. Going to the moon, Louis and Clarke trip's funding, etc. As if to say: "don't worry the government is here to help." Read the transcript of Sen. DeMint of S. Carolina recount his frustrations about these things by clicking here.
Such a shame. I realize that the men of our founding would likely be embarrassed and even appalled at the money spent to immortalize them, but I believe they would be humbled at the tribute their monuments each pay to the benevolent Creator who had (and should have) a prominent hand in our country's history. I can guaran-dog-tee you that the Founders had no intention on creating a Welfare state. They would not be supporting the bailouts. They would be behind faith-based initiatives. Normally, my blog portion is on politics....this was unavoidable, as it is another step to remove God from the fibers of our being.
Side note: I am not sure I like Sen. Harry Reid's comment about the overdue need for the welcome center, in relation to the hot summers: "You could literally smell the tourists coming to the Capital." Almost insulting...as if to say, "In our high offices, set apart from the real world, the stench of the common ignorants could be smelled - hopefully, this new center will keep the beasty folk from interrupting us." Just another reason he and those like him, should be voted out: they do not have representation on their minds!
