A lot of folks can't understand how we came to have an oil shortage here in our country. Well, there's a very simple answer.
Nobody bothered to check the oil.
We just didn't know we were getting low.
The reason for that is purely geographical.
Our OIL is located in:
ALASKA, California, Coastal Florida, Coastal Louisiana, North Dakota, Wyoming, Colorado, Kansas,Oklahoma, Pennsylvania and Texas.
Our dipsticks are located in DC.
Pretty sure there are no questions.
I would simply add: when you rely on a theif to fill your tank...you're gonna get robbed....
- gleened from an email recently received. I looked for the cartoon of Garfiled that did not open in my email, and found this link for the "original post."

TRILLION DOLLARS...NO SWEAT, POCKET CHANGE!
I just received this animation. I was pretty amazed...concise, vivid, clear, direct and gut wrenching. If you think you have debt....it ain't nuttin' like what the government has just put on you!
This has to get out there - has to be understood. The so called leaders of this Nation are selling us down the river! Actually...to China! I realize that the stimulus package and bailout talk is almost old hat, and definitely yesterday's news - but it should not be!
Where are the upset Americans: upset, mentally stable, intelligent, compassionate, logical, common sense oriented, non-politically correct and of sound mind. Hopefully, I was a bit redundant there, but - where are we? We are not "bad" people. We are not "dumb." We are not "haters." We are not "trying to destroy the earth." We are not "rich." We are not even close to "rich." We are "hard working, mind-your-own business, but help your neighbor, quiet, respectable, intelligent contributors to society."
You do not see us on TV because we are not victims. We are not leeches, and the thought saddens and maddens us. We do not shock or make you point or curse, we have no sob-story (well, correction: we don't let our "sob-story" keep us down - rather it inspires us to do better), we are not irresponsible with our sex drive, we are not irresponsible in general, we have ethics, we have morals, we have self-confidence, we work - work hard, we do not believe the government can help us, and know this from education and the reality of history. Many of us own small businesses that employ those that have the backbone to get off their butts (insert the other word - because that is really what I want to put in there) and provide for their own well-being.
So, click on this link: What is 1 Trillion Dollars?
See for yourself what our wise, stately and responsible congressional and senatorial representatives - along with our most inspiring and knowledgeable President - have burdened us with. Keep in mind that "they" voted him and his band of brothers into the White House, but we must do all we can to protect America from their destruction. By the way, I am talking of of us - not our representatives.
Oh yeah, did you hear about the reversal of President Bush's ban on funding embryonic stem cell research? That's right, Obama killed that one. Boy, we are on a roll now!

CAPITAL WELCOME CENTER OMITS GOD
If you have ever been to Washington, DC and viewed the Capital, Mt. Vernon, and all the monuments in the DC dedicated to strong leaders in our Nation's founding, one thing you cannot avoid is God. He is present everywhere...and if not Him, an allusion to Him. The Washington Monument, heavily decorated with such items and capped off with "Laos Deo" on the east side. Learn more about the capstone and the religious intents by the creator Pierre Charles L'Enfante.
Recently, we toured the DC. The religious history of this nation and the faith of our fathers is amazing. Thus, it is disturbing when the new welcome center at the capital has so blatantly avoided or secluded any indications of faith. It is as if to say "forget faith, that was then." Rather the DC center highlights "amazing actions" performed or notable moments in the nations history. Going to the moon, Louis and Clarke trip's funding, etc. As if to say: "don't worry the government is here to help." Read the transcript of Sen. DeMint of S. Carolina recount his frustrations about these things by clicking here.
Such a shame. I realize that the men of our founding would likely be embarrassed and even appalled at the money spent to immortalize them, but I believe they would be humbled at the tribute their monuments each pay to the benevolent Creator who had (and should have) a prominent hand in our country's history. I can guaran-dog-tee you that the Founders had no intention on creating a Welfare state. They would not be supporting the bailouts. They would be behind faith-based initiatives. Normally, my blog portion is on politics....this was unavoidable, as it is another step to remove God from the fibers of our being.
Side note: I am not sure I like Sen. Harry Reid's comment about the overdue need for the welcome center, in relation to the hot summers: "You could literally smell the tourists coming to the Capital." Almost insulting...as if to say, "In our high offices, set apart from the real world, the stench of the common ignorants could be smelled - hopefully, this new center will keep the beasty folk from interrupting us." Just another reason he and those like him, should be voted out: they do not have representation on their minds!
